APC Crisis: Thousands Of Grassroots Members Defect To PDP In Ogbomoso

Not less than 4,000 All Progressive Congress (APC) grassroots members in Oyo State defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the State.

The defected members denounced their memberships from All Progressive Congress to pick up their membership forms of the Peoples Democratic Party in Surulere, Ogo Oluwa Local Government Areas of Oyo State, thereby becoming bonafide members of the ruling Party in the State.

Welcoming the defectors to the PDP fold, the Caretaker Chairman, of Surulere Local Government, Mr. Adegbite Isaiah, of Surulere Local Government said that working method of Governor Seyi Makinde was the main reason many people want to be part of his administration.

Adegbite stressed that Makinde led administration is working hand in hand with the people both in the city and in the grassroots level of the State, to make sure the State takes back her old glory, of Pace Setter in all ramifications.

He noted that the defected members of the APC, who are now new members of the PDP in Oyo State, are top stakeholders in APC grassroots politics, stressed that their defection will mean a lot to both parties.

Adegbite maintained that the new members will have impact in the development of the state and the party in general, noted that they are plus for the State PDP.

“Their defections will surely affect the APC as a Party, because those people are great assets to the party when it comes to grassroots politics in our area and in the State as a whole”.

“This is a great achievement seeing top stakeholders joining the political party and come 2023, it is victory for PDP in Ogo oluwa Local Government and Surulere Local Governments of Oyo state”.

“These people actually started with our party before moving due to misunderstanding, and we are happy to be back together as family”.

“We are ready to start working together to ensure we are stable to win the next election which we are sure of winning due to the fact that many are coming in to join us and we are counting numbers every day”.

“They have seen the difference between the administration of the PDP and that of the opposition as the current administration in Oyo state under the leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde is focused and working on how to ensure that Oyo state remain under on the Umbrella of the People Democratic Party”.

Speaking also at the event, the Caretaker Chairman of Ogo Oluwa Local Government, Ojo Oluwaseun expressed his happiness over the defection of top political members into the People Democratic Party, stressing that this defection means a total swept of the opposition party In Ogbomoso and Oyo State in general.

Oluwaseun maintained that “ I am very happy to see our brothers coming in to join this great political party and it is sure that the next election will be in the favour of our party as we already have 80% to 90% chance of winning.”

Hon. Peter Olusegun Oyetunji, a Former State House of Assembly member, who happens to be one the prominent politicians that defected to PDP, pledges allegiance with the People Democratic Party saying he is interested in the development of the state and so far he is impressed with the current Engr. Seyi Makinde administration of the state.

Hon. Oyetunji said, I started with PDP in Surulere Local Government and there was never a time I left the party, we only had disagreement and now we are back to the party to push forward in terms of development.”

Also speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Sunday Makanjuola, former Oyo lawmaker, said their coming back to the party is to ensure that the Party takeover of the party in Ogo oluwa and Surulere Local Government.
